Moving Forward
I liked the surreal aspect of the images; I much preferred the outcome of using grey tones subtly in the images to displace the realism slightly- as opposed to the very stylised pictures. I enjoyed drawing influence from the visuals and creative direction of media I had consumed and then morphing the ideas into an entirely different theme to create something new.
I would like to further explore manipulating colour and creating philosophical rules for how to edit the images more.
I discovered that I don't really enjoy working in black and white to the same extent I do colour- this might be something I should push myself to do.
I was also extremely thrown off with the process of just going out to take photos of the environment around you. I think that it was a valuable experience to try and find a way to make this task interesting for myself to complete; it pushed me to create work that I never would have otherwise. Although I wish to move away from this style of work, I definitely would like to also continue documenting the world around me in various ways.

Context
When reviewing the images I had collected, my attention was drawn to the small details in the photos that were a large part of what I remembered. I decided to edit these in a way that would explore drawing visual attention to the aspects that dominated my memory of the overall, big picture, experience. I chose colour as a direct way to evoke this, inspired by the 1998 drama/fantasy movie Pleasantville and the way it manipulates the viewers attention.
