Where we set up
Observations
We stood either side of the hallway the camera on one side and the background on the other so that to passers by we were unavoidable. There were some reacts we quickly started to notice and became interested in. Some people walked by without noticing and therefore appeared to behave naturally. However most people noticed our set up, speeding past us, standing back or asking our permission to pass through. I found this draw my attention in relation to surveillance- how we behave differently when we are aware that we being watched. The idea of voyeurism being an innate quality within photography was something that I thought about alot this week, although it strayed from our group work I would like to really explore this idea on my own in the future. Perhaps I could try and remove this relationship from the photograhic process by moderating what the photographer can see or when the subject can perform for the camera.
